Found the source of my water leak (rain water)
When I was installing a new stereo the other weekend, I noticed that the rear passenger side floor pan was starting to rust out. I read up quickly on drain holes and realized the two under the hood near the hinges were plugged. I unplugged them but still had water coming in by the front passenger side floor pan and rolling back. I then did a little more investigating and removed my battery and battery tray. Underneath I found a rust whole and that is exactly where the water is coming in.
I plan on getting some seam sealer to plug the hole. Maybe in the next few weeks I will cut out the floor pan where it is rusted and weld some new sheet metal in to keep the rust from spreading. I need this car to last and I don't have rust anywhere else so I think its worth doing. Any thoughts? Scott |
I'm running the same lake in my passenger wells. Plug yours by all means. I'm still waiting for warmer weather to find the 'plugged drains' up front and thaw out the ice on the floor.
Found Larry Bible's discovery on where the water comes from. Very helpful dp |
