Shifting problem fix !, (NOT vacuum)

After days of reading old threads and armed with a fist full of printouts from this group and the necessary gear I started going through trying to figure out why my car would not rev over 2000 rpm to shift.
Here is a fix for others in the same situation to check first. I was going step by step through this mbz.org article and in the third step in I found it, and was stoked to find out that it 'aint vacuum'
Hopefully others in the same situation can find this thread and it may help them the way this group helped me.
My tips.
1 check the pic here in this post to see if this applies to you. The bushing that connects this "kickdown cable" arm wears out allowing it to pop over the stop tab.
2. Autozone has mitivac's in their loan a tool program. No need to buy one.
3. Ace Hardware has rubber tubing and T connectors that are the perfect size for making a connector to use the mitivac in various places.

just for clarification the picture is what it looks like when it is correct and not what it looks like when its slipped out of place.

yeah, it is so simple but not something you would catch unless you were going through in a slow step by step. It makes me wonder how many Merc's have been brought to Trans shops and charged for for some fancy expensive repairs when all the shop may have done was this.

I found this same problem on mine right after I bought it. The bushing was a little loose but most of all the hardware was bent to where it would only "catch" once in a while. Large channel lock pliers fixed it right up.
