'86 DSL won't shift out of First Gear

Happened rather fast--went to bank-turned car off-20 minutes later after restarting-this car would not shift out of first gear. Prior to this no shifting difficulty observed. Please-opinions as to what may be causing this. Thanks.

Disconnect the kick-down switch under the accelerator pedal. That fixed mine and another board members car last week.
