Anyone got a honest time for a 85 300D 0 to 60 mph?

Anyone got a honest time for a 85 300D 0 to 60 mph?

I know a 1987 300D can do 12 sec, so i am estimating the speed for a 1985 300D , for the time being, as 15 seconds. I need this for a speeding ticket defense.

My defense is based on the fact that

My defense is based on the fact that the police car was a 1/2 mile from where i was stopped at the traffic light and where he spotted me. So if say my 0 to 60 time is 15 seconds, my acceleration is (60mph)/(15 sec), or .0011111 miles/sec squared (there are 3600 sec in an hour). Then i could calculate the fastest I could go in that 1/2 mile using vexp2= 2ax , but my physics and my head are mushy, and somehow I just got my half mile time as 100 mph, which I think is wrong.
What I am really trying to find is a 1/2 mile time for a 300D, whats the highest speed I could do from dead stop to a 1/2 mile at full acceleration...

What i am trying to say

5. The distance from Madison and Washington, where I paused for the traffic light to Washington and Kearney where I received the ticket after pulling over after I saw the lights of your patrol car is ½ miles. However the actual distance I traveled before being observed by your patrol car has to be less than that because there is time required for your patrol car to make the observation and then start its pursuit and signal to pullover. The driver also requires reaction and recognition time to safely pullover. This distance is estimated to be ¼ miles. This is a accurate because it was ¼ mile from Madison and Washington Street to the location of your patrol car. (The sum of ¼ and ¼ miles is ½ miles.)

I would just like to beat this ticket fair and square..

for once, its kind of like tinkering with your car fixing something goofy like an ashtray light, I just want to tinker with this and solve this to my satisfaction being a diesel head...If I win, i can use the $200 and buy some cool tools or even an engine...and my wife couldnt say anything..

I think you are wasting you time.

But, here goes:

Let's work in feet/second, which is easier.

The acceleration of the 300D is 6 ft./sec² (0-60 in 15 sec.)

The distance that you are interested in is 2640 feet.

The formula for velocity is: V²=2AS. A is acceleration, S is distance.

So your velocity at 1/2 mile is 178 ft./sec. or 121 mph.

HOWEVER: The 300D cannot sustain an acceleration of 6 ft./sec² between the speeds of 60 mph and 121 mph. This is due to the very strong effect of wind resistance on the body. The vehicle would never reach 121 mph within 1/2 mile.

Hell, it wouldn't reach 121 mph in 5 miles.

The actual answer to your question can only be acheived with a stopwatch.

Thanks Brian

I guess it is a waste of time, but it sure beats sitting in the prosecutors office with nothing to say at all....I'll probably end up paying, but i will try anyway...

Horizontally, no, but vertically, I think it has a shot. Let's push a 300D out of a plane and see .

my 84 300SD right out of a recent tune up, everthing up to spec, 11.8 seconds average. I used a stop watch.
I can be an expert witness for a fee but will settle for some return lines for my injectors.

Substitute "32" for acceleration.

Vertical speed: 280 mph in 1/2 mile

What is the terminal velocity of a 300D??

Here is a queston: if I pushed my SDL out of a C130 at 40k feet, and the C130 was doing 200 knots. How fast would it be going when it hit the ground?

Would this be considered a W126 speed record?

Similar answer as above post:

What is the terminal velocity of a navy blue 300SDL with a factory velour inteior??

Yes, you would have the speed record!

When it hits terminal velocity would it go back in time maybe?

Yes it would. It would revert back to the vehicle it was when you purchased it. All of the new parts would fly off the engine and undercarriage and into the hands of W126 owners who really need these brand new parts.

Of course, this would be about 10 seconds prior to the point when the vehicle reaches a velocity of zero.
