Never have understood why people expend so much effort trying to make a pickup fancy. If you can't throw cordwood into it, haul rocks, pull stumps, push other vehicles, etc. what good is it?

If it was supposed to be a Japan spec car, shouldn't it be right hand drive, and won't the headlights beam pattern be the wrong way?

Every Japanese Mercedes i've seen has left hand drive, and they had "Euro" headlights to boot (R&R with US headlights to make it comply to DOT standards). And in many occasions they have the side marker also.

Hey, that's car is in Tampa! I'd love to get rid of my POS Jeep pickup and use this thing to haul the boat. My neighbors would freak.

If you really want a fancy pickup just go buy a new one! Pickups used to be for work, used by people like me, to make a living out of. Now they are driven by every idiot that thinks a truck is cool. So now when a guy like me needs a work truck I pretty much have to get power everything, leather, and every geegaw known to man to get the few options I really need. That means they are $30K+ What a joke. Can ya tell I've been truck shopping? Actually with a diamond plate bed that MB conversion would likely hold up better than the 1/2ton luxo crap trucks they are selling these days. RT

My recommendation - ask for the fleet manager. You should have no problems getting a rubber floor, manual window, manual tranny, manual locks, stripped out fleet style truck. If you are looking around in the city, you may just have to take a drive to a rural town to get one. I know I had to, when I bought my truck. One salescreature in the DFW metromess actually asked me if I was crazy for wanting a manual transmission.

Neeless to say, I left. I drove about an hour northeast of the metromess to Bonham, TX (probably closer to two hours now with the increase in traffic), and had my choice of colors to basic 3/4 ton Cummins powered trucks.

My plain-Jane (it is even white) 2500HD was still over $30K and it has power nothing and an AM/FM-only radio. It is the duramax/allison option that adds up fast.

For those who have yet to make the acquaintance of John D. MacDonald's boat bum/detective/troubleshooter Travis McGee ("Darker than Amber," "The Deep Blue Goodbye," etc.):

McGee's car was one even more memorable than this -- a 1936-era Rolls-Royce that had been converted, post-accident, into a pickup. McGee tells us that he saw the car on a lot and loved it because it's electric-blue paint was the same shade as the hair of his 4th grade teacher, and he thereupon bought the car and named it after the teacher: "Miss Agnes." In a number of the stories he tells us how the car would be slow to get up to speed, but then would travel all day "at 80 in a sort of ghastly silence."

of the mercedes symbol. put a white vinyl roof on it with landau irons and it would sell better.

maybe some sprewells and neon underneath. lower it. or add and air lift kit to each wheel.
