You guys fixed it!

Following whunter's suggestion, I added MMO and a 120 mile italian tune-up to my engine to try and fix the #1 cylinder, which would not idle. When I got home this afternoon, the idle was horrible but cracking the lines I could tell that #1 was back on line. I adjusted the injection pump nozzle for #1 back to its original setting and the car returned to flawless idle, with no smoke and the same drop in idle when I crack all four cylinders. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm buying stock in Marvel's Mystery Inc this afternoon but I'm using lire.

I bet the valves had to seat again after being so far off. I've always noticed right after valve adjustment things run funny for half a tank of fuel or so.
One of those Mercedes quirks.. Glad things are better..

This should have been put on the end of your thread... so the ending would be with the mystery ( pun intended ).
