New DIY Links/ Pages Coming Soon

Well looking around here I see some things I'd like to add in, as well as having a couple people who have PM'd me about adding other little things. Off the top of my head the vacuum fitting links in the sticky, installing euros in a w126, brakelight mod to a 123, link to journeyforever, and possibly a couple more links from stuff I've saved in bookmarks but haven't added yet. I just swapped out the steering gearbox on the W123, if I have enough good pictures I may make something up for that. Also I may have enough for a power steering fluid flush page. Anyone know of any other good threads or sites to add?

Last month I believe it pulled about 2800 visitors which is the most traffic it has seen, the first few months were about half of that. Thanks for the support, suggestions, and if there is anything you think that could be improved drop me a line and I'll look into it.

Thanks,

Updates:
"I was just reading your Cruise Amp Repair and thought this could help others. Just to let you know you don’t want to use a soldering iron over 30watts on any circuit board any hotter and the chances are high that you will damage the components also having a wet sponge or rag when soldering helps. You quickly touch the tip of the iron to the wet sponge in between joints to clean it then add a tiny bit of solder to the tip and continue I just don’t want people to get a soldering gun and fry their amps"

Other wood finishing methods,
Have to search through emails tomorrow.

Do you think it'd be tedious to go through these different documents as links or just leave it be with just the main one? http://articles.mbz.org/

Once there are enough links the structure of the site will have to turn into drop down menus, also it'll probably be seperated into pages with and without links by posting a picture next to the link (if possible with drop down).

Oh, one more thing that I'll mention here, in the sticky, and on the site. I just setup an auto forwarder so if you just go to www.diy.1baddsm.com it'll take you there.

Jeff,

I don't know if you are very good with images, but I have software here to enlarge, reduce and change the resolution for proper NET viewing AND for proper printing. I can also make PDF's. Let me know if you have any difficult images, some people don't use the correct image resolution which results in higher bandwidth requirements.

I've never looked to see how it would print, I just try to design it so it looks good in 1024x768 (is this considered average?). I try to make thumbnails everwhere I can so it makes for quicker downloading for those with dial up. I have been using either Photoshop, MS Photo Editor, Paint, or MS's Image Resize feature to resize stuff. They seem to work alright.

Looking into what you mentioned my thumbnails on the main page could be smaller, they are mainly 250x180. I'll make a list of the ones I want to make smaller and make them all 75x50. Thanks for the suggestion Eric!

Edit:
Size went from 162kb to 40kb per load for the thumbnails, I'm also decreasing the size of the picture there.

800X600 works for everyone.
Many times my connection is 28.8K or slower.
I use special security software to kill Flash, Frames, Banners, Redirects, Pictures and many other things to speed my connection.

When I had dial up at least it'd connect generally around 49kbs which is right around the limit. That is uncalled for to have it that low though, I'd either;
-Get a different number to dial into
-Install a different modem
-Goto a different ISP

The phone lines here date back to WW2 vintage era.
Everyone except the dialup ISP's class my bandwidth use level as commercial.

Thumbs up How about ...

Hey Boost, how about odometer repair. I know there are many threads about this, but it seems a common failure on W123's. Besides, it is a great indoor repair for January!!

I can't fix what isn't broken though. I covered taking the cluster out before and removing the speedometer/ odometer housing but never went into disassembly of it. Just get out the superglue and glue the gear to the shaft.
