Impressions of '99 E300D?
I've got a friend who is interested in buying a '99 E300D. I told him that this was the ultimate place for MB information, and that if anyone had information about these cars, they would be more than willing to share.
Are there any common problems that he should be aware of on this series of MB diesels? (ie computer problems, electrical system problems, transmisison, etc)? Also, can anyone direct me/him to a site listing the available options and/or option packages available on these cars? Any input would be appreciated. SteveM.

The Bad side:
-Glowplugs that get stuck in the head and break off, usually resulting in removing the head, although there are other ways. -Front spring purches that fail...resulting in the dumping suspension components onto the road. (seemed to happen on the earlier 210s...'96s) -Cheap materials, cheaper paint that chips easier, dashes that crack, and rust proofing...many have had all doors and trunk lids replaced. Also check the front cross member(tends to rust from water trapped from underbody panels). The Good Side: -Plenty of power(able to shread the rear tires) -An excellent ride -great fuel economy 30-35mpgs(highway) -a rock solid engine(other than the glowplugs)
