99 E300TD rear window failure
So I'm standing there in the driveway, proud of my diesel purging accomplishment, and my wife comes ripping back into the driveway. "Now the friggin' left rear window won't go up!" she yells. *sigh* So I did the unavoidable regulator repair. Funny thing is that the automatic function of the motor quit working. It will raise on the first click but the second click stops the window immediately. The automatic lowering function wont work but the window will continue down if you hold the button in the first or second click. (same with the drivers switch). Bad motor? Is the passenger side rear motor the same?

Check the owner's manual. If you interrupt power sometimes you have to reset all these automatic functions. I had a similar thing happen to my sunroof. I used the remote "open everything" command on the key and it opened all the way, then I closed everything, and the roof, along with the windows did their thing. From then on I could use the sunroof controls normally. Jim

Everytime I had the battery disconnected, the windows and sunroof failed to work. You have to open it and keep your finger on the switch till you hear a soft click or 5 seconds after it stops moving to be absolutely sure. After that, close it with the same procedure. That will help it "learn" the stop points.

Yep that worked. Thanks!
