MB Mini Van?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39405&item=4522646483&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Hmm... I though for sure this was a phony (Volvo Drivetrain, obviously faked grill, doesn't look like any 60's MB van I've ever come across), but it does have a period Becker installed....

Did other auto makers use those Beckers?

Cute van though. Be great w/ a 240 and a 4spd. Sure to make some body shop owner enough for an extra week around vacation time!

It's a Hannomag ...they were taken over by MBZ in the 60s.

Got me curious:
http://www.cms.daimlerchrysler.com/emb_classic/0,,0-195-154453-1-154455-1-0-0-0-0-0-434-78641-0-0-0-0-0-0-0,00.html
I always wanted one of those early MB vans.

Must be a Volvo van in the ad, has some of the features of an 1800 (always wanted one of those too).

(obvious yet that I have nothing to do at the moment? )

Looks like an early model Hanomag, but that's definitely a Volvo gasser in there. Probably a retrofit...that thing's a heap.

Not a faked grill. Someone was selling a diesel version in the NW on Ebay a few weeks ago. Had the same engines as MB sedans I believe. Current bidding at .99 seems a little high.

actually,

i was in baltimore a few years ago on biz at the roro docks. coming in one day i swear i glimpsed an mb van the size of a town and country. it had different styling and looked euro. it was on the back of an auto transport. i looked thru auto mags for 6 months but never saw it featured. i didn't have either camera ready to shoot yet so no pics.

Probably a Sprinter. I saw one here about 2 years ago with the Tristar emblem on the front and MB badges - very unusual since Freightliner was the distributor at the time. It was black and was a passenger van with dual wheels in the back. I about flipped when I saw it. I was in an Applebee's and waited for the owner to come out (it had North Carolina plates) hoping to see the interior but after an hour or so they still didn't show.
Dodge is now the Sprinter distributor in the US. I think FedEx uses these vans. There is also one on the Geico commercial.

You probably saw a VITO. They're all over Australia and the far east.

Here's the cargo version:

I'll pay the 99 cents if someone can get it on one of those stressed out TV shows that "gotta make it a show car before tomorrow, hurry, hurry".

My 409d is the dual rear wheel camper conversion of the earlier model 'Sprinter'. Word on the street is that the Vito is very unreliable and not worthy of the MB badge. Sprinters are another issue.
