I think the issue with the 5 spd manual trans was the clutch discs were slipping and unable to handle the increased torque. No easy solution there, given the limited availability of suitable replacements.

Beautiful workmanship. That header is artwork. Overkill? Sure but thats the point isn't it? I don't think the Finn's have big block V8's to mess with so they build what they have. I think its great, someone having fun with his hobby. I guess the winter is long and cold in Finland. Ideal for perfecting your welding and fabicating skills. RT

The rules of modifying cars have been changed in Finland, you cannot install an engine with more than ~20% added displacement or weight. V8 conversions are therefore not possible any more. Some cars have been equipped with V8 in the past according to old rules.

Here are some early project pics of W115 equipped with Chevrolet 5 litre engine.

The performance is adequate.

Superchargers have been installed in other cars as well, e.g. Danos S500:

So... it looks like (one one of the cars pictured...) that the supercharger and the turbo are in parallel- is that a valve on the top of the intercooler (only the turbo is intercooled...) to cut it off *so the superch. doesnt blow back through the turbo ? am I right ? I'm trying to understand the 'super/turbo in parallel steup'

The blower should help to eliminate the lag found in the other Super Turbo setups.
I would imagine boost pressure is quite low on that application, most likely in the area of 4 to 6psi. As airflow capability is increased, you cannot get away with as much boost pressure safely...Bert

i wonder how it works without some kind of "check" valve....when the SC is making boost, it will be backfeeding into the turbo..when the turbo is making boost, it will be backfeeding into the SC...i wouldnt be worried about the SC, but I'm not sure if having the additional pressure on the turbo is a good idea or not...who knows
