Upon further review...

I am fascinated with the craftsmanship if this mod, but it didn't make sense at first. Upon further review, I think I have an idea of what is going on. Whoever is doing this mod is using the turbocharger (through an intercooler) to boost the supercharger suction pressure. I gathered this from Picture 6 of 29 that shows a horizontal pipe (covered in blue) at the outlet of the intercooler that heads back towards the inlet of the supercharger.
Higher supercharger inlet pressure leads to higher supercharger discharge pressure.
I THINK the device on the top of the intercooler is a normally closed pressure relief valve-but it works for the supercharger discharge pressure AND the turbo outlet (post intercooler) pressure. There is no actual flow between the two pipes at the top of the intercooler-there is probably a blank flange between the two. The pressure relief valve senses supercharger discharge pressure but when it opens, it dumps both the supercharger discharger and post-intercooler turbo press.
So, when the discharge pressure of the supercharger gets too high, the relief valve opens. Not only does this relieve the discharge of the supercharger through the relief valve, but by connecting the discharge of the intercooler (think cold post-turbo/pre-supercharger air) to the relief valve with the pipe on the top drivers side of the intercooler, it also dumps the outlet pressure of the intercooler. This will reduce the inlet pressure of the supercharger. This further lowers the supercharger discharge (read engine intake) pressure to a safe level.
Let's hear your objections.

I don't know about you guys but I would LOVE an exhaust header like that...

And make a simmular intake..........equal length headers are far more efficient than a log style.

My .02

I think the supercharger is only there to provide boost at low throttle settings...ie: off-idle, out of the hole.

The supercharger intake gets it air from the intercooler simply because that air is already filtered, having come through the air filter on the turbo's inlet.

My SWAG is that at some point as the engine increases in rpm and the turbocharger starts making boost, a pressure switch in the intake tract disengages the electric clutch on that supercharger because the turbo is making all the boost that the engine can use. However, during operation, there will be rpms, throttle settings or power outputs that create conditions where the supercharger is engaged while the turbo is spooling down. For that reason I think they've installed a check valve to keep the supercharger's output from flowing looping through the intercooler and possibly stalling the compressor side of the turbo and/or starving the engine for air.

B2 success story....in the making, need some help

Working on my Brother's 1982 300D (mine is better!) pulled the tranny and found the B2 busted. My question is I ordered the B2 and the new type of bushing, but what about the seal??? I found the part number on the DIY, but I couldn't find the part on fastline, and I'd also like to replace the big o ring in there too. I can't find these parts. Also, I am having a hard time pulling out the seal so I can take the old bushing out, I already hurt the seal, so its no good anyway. I can tell that the bushing is lose behind the seal. But I'm still having a hard time getting the seal out of there. I need some help Thanks!

We have now a winter here in Finland, good time to tune up cars in warm garages. There are some new developments waiting to be dynoed, you will be surprised.

Turbo+ compressor in Diesel is a new development, but here are some samples of similar gassers:

Is it just me or is that not the stock 617 injection pump thats on there? Looks to me more like one off a 602 engine.

Was this engine a turbo 617 to begin with? who knows!

Injection pump was originally in non-turbo engine, it is now heavily modified with huge elements to feed the beast. Exact details of the construction remain the property of the builder/owner for the time being. They will be revealed in the track next summer. First races of the season are 5.29.2005 in Kalajoki, Finland.

Hey...consider this is a 5 cylinder 3.0 diesel........that in itself is offbeat....a wagon makes it perfect.
