Given the shaft by the indy for the last time

Either I will perform all future work on my car or the dealership will do so. I have a very reliable mechanic at the local dealership and they have never overcharged me.

I got tired of the rattle in my rear passenger door. Same door that the INDY had fixed the plastic guide on the window regulator and charged me $100. I disassembled door today. All clips on panel were good. Then I discovered his crappy work. When he reinstalled the window regulator, he allowed the teeth on the motor to get misalined with the other teeth and thus the mouning holes for the regulator did not match up with holes in the door. Were about 1/4inch off. He forced the bolts into the regulator anyway!!!!

The bolts had worked loose and the regulator was banging inside the door. All is good now. That was the most annoying DIY repair I have ever done on the 82 300sd.

Stay away from the Mercedes/Volkswagon mechanic in Wilson, N.C. He does shoddy work.

Yo MTU.
From whence cometh thy handle?
Do you have, like, a motor yacht?
I have an affinity for MTU stuff, especially that which is, in whole or in part, DDC stuff.

I also agree that car work is best done by thyself, provided that one has the smarts to do so.

Sometimes it is not worth the while to DIY. Sometimes I do DIY. It all depends. I won't DIY a coolant flush because it makes a mess and the dogs might get at it sepecially if it is done in the winter. For that, I use the dealership.

When I do use them or ANYBODY, I am always there watching. To me, leaving my car to get worked on is like having sex. I want to see what is happening. If they don't agree with my philosophy, I find another facility.

Edit: Having my car worked on is like having sex. I want to be there to see.
