Five speed for sale? what's it worth?

HI

sorry for this but I have ( I have posted info on this before but it was not for sale then) a 220d with a 617a and five speed I was going to have it put into a "Good" 220 D that I own The donor car is trashed and the "new " one is better but well--- 36 years old.

I am not able to do the swap myself due to shop loss.

What might this trans be worth? ( I know someone would be willing to take it off my hands for a 6 pack ) I think it would be hard to get much for the 220D once it's completed. Might just be a simpler idea to part it out.

I dont think there are more than half a dozen people as wierd as me

I figure that moving the engine would be fairly simple - especily if i threw in the water to air inter cooler.

Anyone interested in a 220 D that has a 4 speed and a bad engine?

That would get rid of everything.

Just trying to explore my options.

Thanks

Chuck

OH the rear end has a al cover would this be stock? my other 220d rear end is steel.

I'm kinda surprised that there are no replies so far...maybe we are all shutting up and hedging our bets (oooh, the dark underside of the diesel forum... =)

1) Where in the country are you at ?

2) I'm sure someone would give you $500 for it (the 5-speed), but I could be wrong- 4-speeds go anywhere from $200 with a car to $500 from a yard, but if its not close to me (SW Ohio...) then I can't comment on what I'd spend- I dont like buying things that I havent touched first (though there are many here that dont mind it as much...)

Would the 5 speed fit into a w115 240d transmission tunnel without serious modification? Does anyone know the gearing ratios for each gear? I wonder if it would help squeeze a few more MPG's out of the engine.

If it's a direct change I would be interested in it.

going once going twice....
OKAY $53!!!!!

There's a G-wagon here with a 617-951 and a 5 speed manual. brakes on the beast are totally shot, as is much of the undercarrage. Rest of the wagon looks great. ideas?..........
and then there's the idea of putting a 560 motor in a engine shot 280TE
