pick-n-pull good sale finally

Finally a decent sale get a complete turbo diesel engine includes turbo, intake AC alternator the works $89 and a outrageous core charge because they know most customers never return the core but you can give them a yugo engine for a core as long as it is all there they will take it but if it is missing one part that was on the engine you bought tuff luck no core refund.
February 15-21:
Alternator/Starter only $9.99!
Radiators only $29.99!
Transmission/Transaxle only $59.99!
Engines only $89.99!

Question

Is the core charge a standard, or does it vary with engine types?

I still need an OM616, and have a Toyota 22R engine that can be turned in...but it's missing the front crank pulley; dunno if they'll accept it...

Thanks!

YEEHAA, thanks for the tip Matt and Dave,
been a long time since I got to spend all day chewing the dust at P&P.
I'm going to the Moss Landing one, btw, in case anyone has any special requests....

'Tis a pity that Pick'n'Pull do not operate in my locale. My Country even.
I would like to take that turbo OM617. What is the core charge?

it depends on the store

It depends on the store how tight they are on cores and the price of non sale items can vary yard to yard. Heater water pumps vary at the 5 yards near me from $4.99 to $22 each so you really have to watch what you’re paying and some tellers will bargain others will not. But I have never had a problem with a core refund when the core is all there they don’t seem to care I don’t think they even note what kind of engine it is other than the # of cylinders and if you don’t make them note any thing that should be on a complete engine they are picky as you can get about not taking a engine missing say an exhaust manifold if it is not noted on the receipt that your purchased engine was also missing that part they make there money off core's not being returned you have 30 days to return a core also. If your in the San Jose area The south San Jose store has a w123 that they had for sale as a rebuild car no one bought it because the fuel return lines leaked real bad so they just put it out in the yard if I needed an engine I would check that one out.

Do you by chance remember whether it was a 300D or a 240D?

Thanks!
