85 300SD cruise control acting weird

Cruise control has been out for 2months. Hit it 2 days ago just for fun and nothing. THEN when I hit the brake and then the gas, it accelurated unexpectly till I hit the brake but re-engaged when I hit the gas. It now does this consistenly. It will also disengage if I hit the off on the cruise lever but then re-engages immediately. It will shut off if I tap the decelerate on the lever.

Is this just my amplifier acting up?
