Cruise Control Amplifier 93 300SD

My cruise control operates eratic, sometimes works and sometimes not. I have ordered and received a rebuilt amplifier, but can't locate the old one on the car. Can someone tell me where it is. I looked on the firewall on the driver side, where it was located on w123's. I also looked under the hood in areas where it would be out of the elements.

I believe its under the dash on the drivers side, if the car's a 140
Also check that nothing is touching the gas peddle "mat"?
