Quick W123 question.......

How much clearance from the top of the rear deck is there to the fuel tank under it.

In inches....

I planning on doing something and need someone who had this figure handy.

Before anything gets cut and modified.

As far as I can tell it is zero clearance. You might recall the plastic expansion tank is tightly wedged inbetween.

The tray for the first aid kit is about 2" deep, and it's another inch or so down to the fuel gauge sender. That's about the thickness of the vacuum tank.

I haven't pulled the panel off the back yet........this is all audio related but I can work out minor details once I have an idea of deminsions I have to work with...........I need to see just where that vacume resivour is mounted....

In the center, off to the side etc. Car will be on the road saturday AM, but till I sort all this out I will have no stereo to listen to.

Spent 2 days reading every single thread with audio and 123 chassis......and found no answers to my questions. Wanted to formulate a few plans in my head.......and when I get time for final precise measurements this weekend...weather permitting, decide which ones are feasible. I know my W116 pretty well.......but this W123 is mostly all new territory for me.

Thanks for those pics....yes....unless I relocate the vacume resivoir its going to screw my plans, totally. Need to pull that cover off and see how hard that would be to do. I gotta have decent sounds to listen to when I drive.
