Junkyard Adventure

Went to a junkyard today, found some interesting items:
3 first aid kits in good shape, 1 from a euro 300D NA that still has the euro first aid supplies intact
pushbutton climate control
wood dash trim intact+console wood, pretty good shape
glove box door
door lock knobs
a couple pretty good sun visors w/ lamps intact
euro 300D NA owner's manual w/ MB plastic case
1 set of injectors, 240D
1 set of injectors 300D NA
1 set of injectors 300D Turbo
brand new oil filler cap w/ German text
2 rear window switches
and last but not least-
1 original Burger trunk triangle- SCORE! but...

accidentally closed the trunk lid and it won't open back up

anyone know how to open the trunk, like w/ a mityvac so I can retrieve the plastic trunk triangle mount? The mount is in perfect shape(happier than a pig in *****)

went nuts, had fun, got all that stuff for $50- guy running the yard was cool

I plan to refurb the first aid kits, they're all black, but can be dyed to match someone's interior color, maybe sell them on eBay, what do you think? Perfect shape, no broken plastic

Thumbs up

Boneyards are always a trip, I always find crazy stuff out in them... non car related. ID cards, music, tools, etc.

take your mity vac and pull up the pass side carpet. under the black plastic cover near the door sill, unplug the green/yellow vacuum lines and pump each one up untill you find the one that opens the trunk/gas flap. just hope the actuator is not leaking!

2 more things, ive been through 4 mityvacs now (all warranty repl) anyone know of a sealant or a better replacement seal for the pressure release valve?

I love junkyards. got a deal going with one now, we fix at half the dealer price all the mercedes he gets that are good enough to resell, and we get prime pick of the mercedes in his yard, usually for free. lots of 190's a few 123's some 108's, one or two 126's and a few 124's.

by the way, I need a 3.0 103 engine, anyone know of one for sale? Theres one too nice to part out but missing the head...block rust...chain wrapped around crank...ugh...

Red face

Yikes. The trunk actuator was lying in the right side quarterpanel compartment. I remember picking it up and playing with it. Yep I had fun indeed. So I guess there is no way to open the trunk without either the key or a functioning actuator in the trunk mechanism itself? Would anyone have a clue where else I might find a plastic trunk triangle holder?
Lesson learned from this- don't close trunks or hoods at the junkyard since you probably won't be able to get them open again. I no longer wonder why I saw all the hoods and trunks left open.

Alas, they are black. The lamp housings both have a crack in one of the flange corners and the lamp housings themselves have come free of the adhesive in the foam visor. but the mounts and clips are good, and they can be reglued into their visors. They could even be dyed to match which was what I was planning to do as the ones in my car are ten times as broken.

But they are palomino

PM "Smooooth" (sp?) he knows a good deal about the triangle and clips to retain them.

Smile trunk open

On my 240d the first aid kit had a hole big enough to reach into the trunk.
Where is that pull yard?

the visors are black you say?

I have been thinking about retrofitting the later style dome light into my 82 coupe, is the car still around and if so, can you get the black panel at the front of the headliner that the visors are folded against?

What do you want for the visors? money? other parts?

Is this in a short timespan or in many years? Also, do not let any fluids (esp. brake fluid) enter your Mityvac.
