Little annoyances of snow and slush...

So I drove home tonight about 10 miles on a main road covered in slush(Loots of slush)....I was going around the speedlimit (55) at about 50-55ish the whole way, slush blasting everywhere and then some.....so when I get home and pull into my space and try to move the selector to park....it makes it to midway between reverse and park, then stops...jammed....moving it all the way down to L and back up to park made no difference. Lots of snow crud must have gotten up in there and is blocking the arms from moving....last time it happened it prevented me from going beyond "D".....at least I could get it into drive! Now I have to wait till its melted out of there before I can use "park" again.... For now its parked in neutral. (w/parking brake) Ahh, the fun things us notherners have to deal with....

Winters hard on cars, I have given up driving mine in the winter. Can you pull it into a garage and run a heater maybe?

Today by the time I got to school I was able to shove it into park with a little bit of pushing, but once I got back home, once again it no longer goes back into park....darn slush!!! Its everywhere! I don't really care so long as I can use R through D, but its still annoying. Our garage is full of stuff right now....can't put it in there

Build a fire underneath it!

We just got 5in of snow last night and the roads are still crappy. Mom can I borrow your car? I'll be driving the Olds to school tomarrow as the SDL sits nice and clean in the driveway.

The slush is mostly gone now, and my shifter is working fine again....just needed to melt out of there It only does that when there's lots of spraying slush on the roads, it just cakes itself up in the tunnel.....there should be like a shield over it or something.....

I gotta wonder how much slush would be deflected by the under body sound deadening panel that no M-B ever seems to have once, but never again...

Hey, if you run fast through puddles of salt water, the salt will melt the slush!

Best Regards,
Jim

I don't think the early W126's had the streamlined plastic panals underneath them. They seem to seal pretty well I don't think much more then a little sand would get above them.

Winter sucks thats why half of New England goes down to FL in the winter!

Yeah no panels here...its alll open Oh well.....I even caused my power steering belt to slip from the slush, I heard some rubbing while blasting through it, and the steering got real heavy intermittently till I revv'd the engine a little.....wups...slush on the belt.... Perhaps I should just go slower.....eh.

I have owned 3 MBs including the one I have. All have their panels.

Why not go to a car wash with an undercarriage wash? That'll fix it.

Exactly Why I Escaped as soon as I could...

Putting my 66 Lemans Convertible sideways on 4 inches of ice and having a delivery truck barrelling down on me convinced me that I hate snow.

My ideal winter would be about three weeks.
I fly in for Christmass and New Years. Xmass with the family and New Years in New York or at some party.
I could look at the pretty snow, ski a few times, and go ice fishing once.

Then back to the airport and warm weather.
