IP Question

Gentlemen, I am in the midst of completing an engine/trans swap with my 78 300D. Finally got to it this weeekend. Have the engine and trans in there from my 81 300D euro.
Problem with the IP. The old engine, and every 5 cyl MB Diesel engine I have seen, has an oil line that runs from the block, just under the power steering pump,to about a foot onto the left side of the IP, right behind the fuel hand pump.
The 81 euro block I have here has a place for the banjo bolt to go into, (the engine block) same location as the 78, but the IP is quite a bit different than any I have seen, and I cannot locate a place for the oil line to go into the IP. For some reason whatever was in the threaded hole under the power steering block was removed. (when I pulled the engine out of the wreck). So I am reconstructing the assembly at this point without a good reference.
I have checked the CD, and the Haynes, they both state to reattach two fuel return lines (both are accounted for) and one oil line.
I have located the oil drain as shown in the manauls. But no place for an incoming line for the oil.
So the question is, does anyone out there have a similar IP that has no external oil feed line? Or am I missing something here? Won't I wreck the IP if it has no oil feed line? What do I do ?

Old Deis,

Does the IP you want to use have a red plastic plug on the top of it? If it does, its an IP that is not lubricated by the engine oil.

You pour engine oil into the IP after removing the red plug.

All the older IP were that way.

It does not have that plug. I am going to get a photo of it if I cannot locate the hole for the oil line. May be an embaressment, you know, hidden in plain view. I checked with a local shop and they had an 81 non turbo euro laying on the floor, said the oil fill line was right below the # five injector line.
They asked about the plastic plug also, seems the early versions up to about 1975 used that to lube the IP. May have gone away with the 220D's.
