Time for new halfshaft?

I've got an 84 300D-T. Before I actually take the thing out, please help me make sure that it's the halfshaft what needs replacing.

The symptom is a loud clicking sound coming from the rear right side.
1. Frequency of the clicking depends on wheel speed.
2. It usually happens the engine is "coasting", i.e. not accelerating or engine braking.
3. If one person sits in the back passenger seat, the noise goes away.

What do you think?

I cant imagine,,,

Someone sitting in the back seat will make a difference to a half-shaft. I would thinkit more likely would have to do with a wheel bearing.

If the rear tire is lifted and spun, do you here a clicking?

Look for broken CV boot a broken boot will surely point to a bad half shaft.
