Beep Beep, Beep Beep, Beep Beep, 300SD
Curious as to what this triple "2 beep" sequence means when I shut off the diesel on my '83 300SD.
Does anyone have an idea what this means? Also wish to know where the RPM gauge "sender" unit is located, RPM gauge only works after engine has warmed up or is parked for awhile in a warm garage. Outside temps this time of year here are -5C average but warming up daily. Thanks Dick W

There is no electronic stuff from Mercedes that will beep in an '82, so I expect your radio is beeping to tell you to remove the faceplate so a thief won't. When I first put in my new Pioneer radio it did the same thing. If that's the case, go through the set up and turn it off.
Do a search for tach amp or amplifier. It sits on the driver's side fender and looks like a 3 inch tall black cylinder. Remove the amp from inside the case, stuff a cigarette butt inside and reassemble. It should work now. By the way, nice boat - I'm a sailor too and hope to get up to PEI someday.

Thanks Tenknots!!
Many thanks, it is a Sony after market radio with a removable face plate, never even occured to me that this is it!!!
The RPM sender I will look at today in between packing things for our trip to Guatemala. "Maxxie" our 300SD will have to sit here in the cold for a few months while we enjoy the Belize Cayes. Dick
