Alternator tensioner removal help needed
Hello one and all,
I've read some of the threads related to this and I can't understand why MB would engineer a part that you would not be able to swap from one alternator to another. I hope I'm missing something simple on this but so far I can't understand how to remove the bracket that has the long bolt with the thin threaded rod welded to the bolt head. I need to swap this bracket over to the new alternator. Can someone confirm as I've read that this can't be swapped over without severely damaging the part? Thanks.

It can be swapped with minimal damage to the bracket. Just open the ears of the bracket enough to move the bolt assembly out, then bend them back once the swap is done.

That's what it came to but I thought that it would have had a better design. Thanks for the help though.
