Finally got one!!

I've posted a few times regarding my 85 380se that i bought recently for 1000 bucks. Well I was driving it to the parts store last week and looked across the street and saw something that looked interesting. Turned out to be an 84 300sd. It looked straight so I stopped to check it out. 233k miles, two owners, really nice black interior and charcoal exterior. The guy is asking 3900 for it. I took it for a drive and fell in love! Even the cruise and clock work! I took it to a garage that specializes in Benzes and had them take a look. The mechanic said the car needs TLC but nothing major. A/C non functional and needs new brake pads and all filters should be replaced. He said compression is good and tranny shifts are good. Also sunroof not working. I went back to the seller and asked why he was selling and he said he hated the diesel noise and smell. I jokingly told I'd trade him even for my 380 and guess what, he said "sounds good to me"! I almost threw the keys at him! We traded right there on the spot. I finally got my SD that I've been wanting for so long.
I drove on to the parts store and bought all new filters and a can of diesel purge. I've since changed oil and all filters, repaired the sunroof(dirty switch ), and repaired a loose hose on the a/c and recharged it since it had already been converted to 134. I'm looking forward to putting all the good info on this forum to good use. You guys are the main reason I wanted a diesel in the first place. I just wanted to share my find with the board. I'm sure I'll have many questions as this is my first diesel. So far I'm loving it!! Thanks and I'll be back.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new ride and your conversion to the "slimey pump" area of the gas station Make sure you pick up a pack of disposable gloves on your next trip to the hardware store
Sounds like you found a realy nice car.

Didn't even have to do that, there was a full box in the trunk!! I also looked in the glove box and fornd all the original owners manuals and maintenance log books. And best of all The Original Window Sticker . The cost new was $41,504.00. The only options were the sunroof and drivers air bag. This is sooo cool!!! The sticker shows estimated 27 mpg and diesel at 1.20 a gallon! Wouldn't that be nice??

You're very lucky!

If I could have traded my 380SEL for a 300SD believe me, I would have!

$2000 later and new double timing chain and gears-
now i'm stuck with the damn thing....
