thinking of ditching my 00 Volvo XC
for older benz wagon. Any recommendations? For the Volvo..I just replaced the AWD unit and replaced tires, as all must be EXACTLY (within 1degree) the same or stand to have AWD problems..now, my ABS light and my another are coming on again..anywhoo..for some reason I am interested in the older 300td or 300te wagons..I hear some good things about them..any advise?

The W210 wagon is nice, they only came with the V6 though. Personaly if I were in the market for a wagon I would hunt down a 1987 300TD.

You won't have all the conforts you have with your Volvo right now. That might be a good thing. I would probably look for a W124 wagon, it's more refined then the W123 but still pretty damn realiable.

MB made some wagons with AWD but I've heard they've had issues as well. I wonder if all AWD cars need to have their tires within such close spec?
BTW, I'd never buy a Volvo these days, they're in with Ford. |
Yep, me either. I think my XC was Volvo made..Ford was not involved this time. I just had the vehicle checked..the intermittant TRACS and ABS turns out to be a the ABS module starting to go..another $960..So that's 2200 in Nov 05 for the Angle Gear and Turbo Line..$300 in October for a blower motor...now looking at this..I am very tempted to say sianara to this but can't help but think..the expensive stuff has now been replaced..is that foolish?

If you do buy a 4matic wagon newer is better. The newer systems are more reliable. How do you like your E420? The W210 wagon is the same thing just with the V6.
I have heard of this tire thing pop up before. I am not sure I beleive it, their are a a lot of awd Subarus running around on miss matched tires. My Uncle has owned two A6's and now an AWD G35 and he has never had to replace all four at once, as far as I know. |
for the Volvo..its the coupler system that requires the tires to be exact..the next model year was much better..it wasn't a coupler system and is much less sensitive to tire tread wear.
