Received my Bilsteins

I got my bilstein shock absorbers for my w123 from performance products today. I did not realize they would be gas-charged... from what i understand there are oil-type shock absorbers and gas charged, am I correct in saying this? From the Haynes manual it seems as if installing gas-charged ones is more complicated, can anyone give any insight to this? Thanks.
