K1 spring/piston assembly

I'm about to drop the tranmission pan and change the filter and I was thinking about rebuilding/replacing the K-1 spring/piston assembly at that time. I have seen a lot of info about changing the spring in the valve, but I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to replace the plastic piston insert or even just the o rings on it. Has anyone had any experience with this? What would the part #s be? I would guess that the rings would have to be of some special material to resist the trans fluid.
As always I'm going to the group that has the hands on experience. We don't always say thanks right away but please know the help is always appreciated.

Did you notice any change in the shifting after changing the springs?

The K1 spring kit is part# 126 270 44 77.

I got this right off the package. I bought two of 'em at the dealer for $10.50 each. They consist of three springs and two plastic pieces. No o-rings.

That sounds like my problem and although I think I can adjust some of the flare out, a $10 part is a cheep way to cover my bases.
Thanks fo the input.
By the way can anyone tell me if its a good idea to put Trans X in when I change the trans fluid and what does it do?
