Coleman 2 burner vs. w123

Fair to compare the simplicity, robustness and reliability of my coleman 2 burner white gas camping stove to my w123 diesel?

I like the smell of diesel better.

Seems like when I was a kid and we went camping, the smell of white gas eventually permeated everything else in the trunk of our '58 Mercury. Yeah, the stove worked great, but fuel vapors and canned asparagus over a campfire did not a fun time make.

I think a Coleman is actually more like a W115 240 with a manual tranny. In fact, there's some startling similarities between a gorilla knob and the Coleman's pump.

Talking HA! I have you all beat...........

When the family and I go camping (tent) in the 123 "Black Bomber", we will usually bring at least 1 "SVEA 123" stove.
My first one of these Sweedish MASTERPIECES was purchased for the grand sum of $14.00......way back in 1971, at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This was LONG BEFORE the area became much too costly $$$$$$ for average folks like "most of us".
Now, I will ALWAYS BUY one of these babies at yard sales...etc.............HOWEVER, they really never show up.
Do any of y'all out there know of which I speak?
Best wishes always, and lets keep those diesel burners firing!
Spo out

Yes, I bought a Svea 123 from LL Bean in 1972. $8.00. I thas been going strong ever since. I put a little brass polish on it every now and then. It is not unusual for someone in a trail shelter to comment on my "new" stove. They are shocked to find out how many miles it has on it. Then they show me their new high-tech MSR with all its plastic parts.
So, yes, the 123 is really more like a 123.

I remember being told by a friend of mine many years ago while we were camping that you must never clean a Coleman stove or it will never work right after that.
I have one from 1974 (they actually have a date stamped on the bottom) and it works great. I have cleaned it though. I'm sure the pump is still original. You need to add a little oil to them from time to time.
