Wagon Rear Hatch Seal
I have looked, to no avail, for a rear seal for my 280TE wagon. I assume it is the same as a 300TD. Checked FastLane and no seal is listed, or am I looking under the wrong part name.

If it is a W123 chassis you are referring to, yes, 280TE and 300TD are the same seal. A cursory look in WorldPac doesn't uncover a listing for the hatch gasket/seal. A dealer item I'd guess.

You could call the guys at fastlane they
might be able to get it anyway. If not try here: http://www.benzcostless.com/partdetail.asp?PartID=23237&intYear=1984&strModel=300TD-T++ Louis. |

Wagon rear hatch seal
Are you looking for the seal for the hatch or for the glass in the hatch ? The seal for the glass is a dealer only item apprx. $140.00 . Why are you looking for the seal anyhow ? Chances are that if it is because of a water leak in the rear of your wagon it is because of the glass seal and not the rubber around the hatch door . The seal on the glass goes , the water leaks inside the tailgate and then you see tons of 123 wagons with rusted out hatch doors . If it is the glass that has lost its' seal replace it but also drill a couple of small holes in the bottom edge of your hatch ( to give the water an escape route , then paint a little POR on the drain holes as a prophlactic for rust .

It's the hatch seal
I did the garden hose test, it's the hatch seal. I wish it was the glass seal, this forum, I can't remember who, helped me fix that with a little RTV. Oh yes, it was Hattaras Guy, thanx again if you read this. I would much rather use $1.00 worth of RTV than replace a $60.00 seal. Thanx!!! :D
