Has anyone rebuilt a fuel pump?
Has anyone rebuilt the fuel pump on the side of the IP?
Mine is leaking. I don't want to spend $180 for a replacement. |

The gasket may be leaking. I haven't pinpointed the source yet, but it's enough to leave a puddle over a few hours. The hand prime pump leaks also. In fact, the whole thing is oily.
Let me restate. I am NOT going to buy a new one. |

If the gasket is intact...clean it up...and smear RTV or permatex on both sides real thin. THen check back with us...Bet that solves it. |
Maybe I'll dig into that tonight. I don't see a gasket in any parts catalog.

I deoiled and reused mine....its as thin as newspaper.....adn should not be replaced with thicker material as doing so would reduce the stroke as it has an arm with a roller that rides a cam in the IP..... |
mplafleur : I have an extra one it's yours just pay shipping from San Diego CA, it's not rebuilt but works ok ( it was on a 84 300 SD)
