Question about ACC in 82 300D

This is what mine does, I'm not sure if nothers have this problem. There are only two temperature settings it seems on my car, HOT, and COLD. I can only get cool air if I keep the thermostat on MIN. If I move it a little bit, the air instantly turns hot, and does not cool down. I replaced the rubber hose in the glove box, so that probably is not it, although I probably should check it to see it the connections are snug. I put a piece of tissue paper on the little grille on the dash to test it, it didn't get pulled on the grille, but I think it's because the bit of paper is too big to be pulled by the little force of the suction of the sensor. What could be the problem? I really don't find the MIN being the only cool setting on the a/c, it's going to be pretty hot down here for the next few months anyway.

I assume you checked your monovalve and the toaster oven?

The monovalve has a little tear in it from what I could tell this winter, at speeds over 60, the heat would cool down. The toaster oven still works fine, it toasts the bread for breakfast pretty well. Now if you're referring to an actual part as a toaster oven, I have no idea what you're talking about.

yeah, whats the toaster oven?

Joe, on my 82 my acc unit would blow cold untill the last click onto max for heat. It was the unit itself that was bad. I still don't have different blower speeds, which box is the blower regulator? The silver one or the black one?

Sometimes fans are regulated by sending them less electricity. Sometimes this is accomplished by wasting the electricity heating coils instead of other ways.... It was also used , for example, in old motorcycles ... a little resistance unit was up under the handle bar ( out in the wind ) in conjuction with a zener diode... this was so that the bike could charge at low rpms but not fry the battery at high speeds... the diode would pass electricity over a certain point to the resistance wiring to be dissipated into the air.
Under your hood you probably have a little box with resistance wire coils in it.... and this may be its function with regards to the speeds for your fan.
This is what many refer to as your toaster box....

The silver one, directly in front of the glove box.
