indie = independent mechanic (not a franchised dealer mechanic)
PO = previous owner

An "indie" is an independent (not a dealer) Mercedes mechanic.

A PO is the "previous owner"

A PPI is usually a "pre-purchase inspection"

And I am a relative newbie, myself, so don't worry about asking questions!

You can usually tell an 'indie' shop cause it smells like curry. Oh no, I'm sorry. That is an Indian mechanic's shop. I always get the two confused.
