That looks better exicuted than some I have seen. Good way to save a car that hat a tree limb drop on the back.

THese are unibody cars....I hope they took time to really research how to maintain structural rigidity before they did it.

I saw a photo about a ear ago with a wagon that was converted to a Ute and had an Elcamino rear bulkhead grafted on.....it was taken by someone on the highway and it was on the back of a rollback......it looked nice.

If you read the questions, one buyer asked if the seller had pictures of all four sides. The seller responded.... "The left side looks like the right side.

1976 240 D pick-up 5 speed manual

I have one I bouhgt it like this (See picture) right now, I have it with the limo guys reinforcing the inside of the pilar doors, I want to register it as a pick-up and has to be approved by the HWY patrol, before they can issue another vin # and a title as pick-up.(it was rejected once)

I prefer the straight cab of the 240D conversion.

I preffer the one with the ElCamino rear bulkhead....that one looked like it came from the factory.....the blue one looks like it was hacked from something else to my eyes anyway....but to be honest I have seen far worse.

I'd like to know more about that modification...any chance of seeing the inside of the bed and details on the structural work?

If you live close to San Diego you are welcome to see the truck, as soon as it’s out from the shop (one more week) but I can tell you the inside of the bed is like a regular pick-up it has the insides of a ford ranger welded at the top with the MB metal sheet, and flatten out crown rails all around just like a pick-up bed, don’t have a tailgate it’s like the modified welded pick-ups I will take some pictures from the bed unfortunately the door pillars and the reinforcement will be cover by the inside bed .

I'm in Austin, Texas...however, I'll probably be in San Diego late this summer (one of my Kiddos lives there) for a visit. I'll try to hook up then.

it appears the 240D pickup is a computer image with the rear section removed in photoshop.
if i missed the mention somewhere that this is so, never mind.

I agree, it does look suspicious, what is with all these flaws in the picture?? I highlighed the differences and its definatley had some severe photo shopping done....also, the images in the window reflections don't even look like whats in front of them....??? and the edge of the building!!! Where does it go?! It looks like someone sliced off the building and sidewalk area with a laser!
