Idle fluctates on 1985 300SD,,,

Idle fluctates on 1985 300SD,,,

Every now and then my idle will drop about 200-300 RPM. It happens when the car is warm or cold or fully heated.

I could be standing at a stop light and the idle will go from 800-900 to 500-600. rev the car up and the idle may or may not stay put.

Is this simply signs of an aging engine/IP pump? 345K miles

Accleration is fine, it'll actually spin tires and chirp between 1-2 shift

When the idle drops, it doesn't seem like a cylinder is missing, it just drops.

Should I get my screwdriver out again and start fiddling with IP settings?
