interchange info between ,'79 300SD & '80 300TD
 

I have an opportunity to pick up a 79 300SD pretty cheap (rear end wreck) and was wondering what kind of parts interchangibility exists between a '79 300SD & '80 300TD non turbo wagon? Engine parts, transmission, interior, front body panels, hood, etc.?? I am taking a look at it later today.

forget the interior......bulbs are about the only thing....same with body....

Engine is the same basicly...the '79 not having EGR however...........will the trans fit? I don't know....I guess it might.

THe plus side is the '79 is a turbo diesel....however your 300TD is a wagon and you have a hydraulic pump for the rear self leveling suspension....that mount is cast into the head......adn you have a non-turbo engine which means the head won't swap.

Thanks for the info. How's the market for 116 parts if I decide to part it out?

Parts are fairly easy to get.......Check ebay to get an idea what they tend to bring. They tend to be reasonible....and not terribly expensive.
