What does the cigar (fuel)hose do?

I need to know what line is the incoming fuel line from the fuel tank on a 84 300 SD.

I am going to install a RCI fuel Purifier and need to know what fuel line is the "INCOMING" line to the "PRIMARY" spin on fuel filter. Thanks

The cigar hose is the return line, next to where it hooks to the hard line is the fuel delivery hose, that goes to the prefilter, to the primer, then to the spin on filter...

Be sure to leave the cigar line in place.. it has a dampening effect which you want to keep... in case you were thinking of replacing it....

I know all too well about that dampening effect after having purged the '83 last week....whoa does that fuel system have some vibrations/pulsing going on! I never knew there was such a "pulse" in the fuel lines when it was running!

Uh oh, I thought it was swollen because of age and weakness. Maybe I should put it back on.

This reminds me of a time last summer when selling my 82 wagon last year, some guy tried to tell me the cigar hose wasn't suppose to look like that and needed replaced.......he also told me every little thing that was wrong with the car and insulted me by saying I was asking too much for the car and it needed so much done to it, I told him it wasn't a brand new car, what do you expect? BTW, he also kicked my rear bumber and it FELL OFF!!! I told him to get off my property.
