main vac line..I broke the t fittings..how to replace?
I broke the t fittings on my main vacuum line on my 1980 300td. The main tube material seems to be almost rock hard. Is there a way to remove the broken t's or a way to fix them. A replacement hose with the fittings is aorund $70 :(
I thought of using an icemaker water line kit to tap into the main vacuum line, run vacuum lines to where they are needed and then then seal off the broken fittings with epoxy or something. Any thoughts or ideas? |
It's about $50 from the World Pac guys. Considering it the main vacuum line to the booster, I'd sure get a new one and know that it's going to hold up.

What I did was, drill a pilot hole for the line tap puncture tip, just in case the tube wanted to split, attach the unit to the main vac line, then connect the vac lines to the poly tube line supplied with the line tap unit. I have both lines from the two broken t's going into the one line from the line tap unit. Can anyone see an issue with the 2 into one. Btw, my door locks and some of the climate control functions don't work at this time, but they never have since long prior to me taking ownership. It's a decent fix for now with stuff I already had laying around the home and garage. This gives me time to see what I can do about replacing the main vac line. This car is so addicitve that I didn't want to miss driving it for a day :) |
