Space Saver Spares?

Are there any "donut" type or other space saver spares available for my '86 and '87 190D's? I could use the extra space in my trunk, but don't want to completely go without a spare tire. A "donut" spare would be great, but I have never seen one for a Benz.

The new MB's have them because the new wheels would take up to much trunk space. Maybe a new model would have the same bolt pattern as a W201?

Deutschlanders guffaw at U.S.

Space saver spare tire (that you can only drive 50 miles or so at 50 m.p.h
maximum speed)?

automobile manufacturers put the least expensive tires on your vehicles
anyway,in hopes of selling you a new set in 20,000 miles.(or in Ford's case
getting a "Kickback" from their cousins at Firestone)

The space saver spares are just like a 13 oz. pound of coffee, they hope
you'll never notice:and if you do ---- you/ what ya gonna do about it?

German cars don't come with "cupholders" (It is illegal to drive and drink,
anything!) German cars don't come with dvd players for the kids,TOO
distracting to the OPERATOR.

Let the statspolizi catch you putting on makeup, shaving (or any of the
miriad other stupid things done behind the wheel in the Americas) instead
of driving::::::and you will understand the term Traffic Fine.

Fortunately I don't live in Germany

I'm not worried about the Missouri Highway Patrol giving me a hard time about a cupholder or a space saver spare. I just want the extra space in my trunk.

I don't need a sermon about the purity of driving in Germany either.

I'll look around for a late model donut spare. I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same.

I believe the GM spares are darn close to what we use. I campared a spare from an '89 Buick Reatta to my TD and it did bolt up. I would not drive it any longer than I must, but it could work.
