All I can say is I am kind of in shock, and I think the other guy was to! I was never expecting to see another W126 done up like mine but I did!

I was coming back from school and I had just gotton off the highway and was sitting on Bridgeport av at a stop light. I look accross the intersection and I see a blue W126 with clear corners, my wheels, and chrome fender trim! I don't have the chrome trim but still 2 out of 3. I would have stopped and talked to the guy if it wasn't a main road. I think he was as surprised as me, we were both checking out each others cars. I didn't quite catch the rear badges I think it was a 420SEL but I am not sure.

I need to meet this guy now! I wonder if this is by chance or maybe he has seen my car before? It would be one heck of a coincidence,(sp?) I have never seen another W126 with Bello wheels.

I see a "twin" of my 300D near where I work. It's a much nicer one than mine, though. I've thought about stopping and leaving my name and number on the windshield and see if they'd sell.

My 300D is silver with blue interior and stock wheels, so I see twins of it running around all the time. What was really strange though was when RLeo bought that Euro 240D 5 speed. Those are rare like left handed fishooks to begin with, but this one was the exact same dark green color and had the same Euro lights and short bumpers and everything. Everything on the exterior matched except the wheels. This car lived about 10 miles away from me, but I had never seen it before.

I saw a 1983 300D that was the same color as mine. It also had the same chrome fender trim, although the wheels were not 15" chrome rims as mine, but had the 14" hubcaps that were unpainted, and they actually looked good without color. It didn't have tinted windows or a creme interior like mine either, but nice to see a car similar to mine.

I know what you mean about seeing the sad state some of these cars are in. Much like mine was when I first bought it and before I spent 3 days cleaning.

Believe me, mine is far from pristine but washing, waxing and vacuuming once in a while doesn't take much.

I met the guy who owns the almost exact copy of my coupe. His is a 1978 300CD, looks exactly like mine on the outside, smoked taillamps and euro headlights with corners, slight difference on the wheels, his were carlsson chromed 5 spoke 18's. He also had the AMG front lower spoiler. The interior was slightly different 5-speed manual trans was in place and had two tone complete interior (grey with red trim) made from a W116 interior set.

I passed it on the road the other day and a LOT more has been done, doesn't look quite so much like mine anymore...

I saw my cars twin coming toward my driveway, He started turning right, then stopped, backed up and then drove into my driveway. He stopped and got out of the car and "Hey, you want to buy this car"

I sais "lets see how it runs". It ran fine and I bought it a few days later. That was 6 1/2 years and its still going 60,000 miles later.

I think the other guy was as surprised as me, we were both doing double takes! W126's with aftermarket wheels and lights are almost un heard of around here I never see them. Their are a few with the 8 hole wheels but nothing else.

I hope I run into him again it would be neat to compare notes.

there is another grey diesel here in town that may be a 300 that we have seen going in the opposite direction. then there is the light colored one i see when i am in the bus going in the opposite direction. it has collector plates on it. saw it at the indie shop i don't go to before i saw it on the road. what is the lighter version of manilla beige?

I think the lighter shade is called Ivory if memory serves me right. I havent seen but a handful of my w123's twin in the past year or so.... seems the majority of orient red w123's are 240D's around here, or 300D non turbos. And even then so 98% of the time they are all oxodized and in poor cosmetic shape. However, every other week or so I see 2 beautifully kept 300D turbos in town. One is Diamond blue with professionally tinted sharp looking windows, chrome fender trim, and the stock 14" bundts. The other one I see is the Manganese brown metallic (correct me if im wrong on the color name) with a palomino interior, it too has the stock bundts as usual. But both of these cars are pristine looking. Always nice to see well kept and obviously cared for w123's on the road.
Theres also a Manilla wagon i see nearly daily that has tinted windows and euro lights, and a stock Manilla wagon with the 3rd seat option and rear headrests, with a custom plate that reads "Smiths MB".
