Euro headlight bulbs

Mine is a 1980 300 SD 116. The regular bulb is a 9003LL. I need to know what the number is for the smaller bulb that goes in the small light that is on the outer side of the main units. Both lights are behind the big glass lens. I am quite sure it is an H3 type. I have one burned out and dont know what to ask for at the auto parts store. Anyone??? Thanks,Willie(Poor Soul)

Not sure how it is on 116's.. but on the euro lens it might show the bulb type. For example.. the 126's show "H4" on the lens. I think the 116 also has H4.. but not 100% positive.

Euro headlight bulbs

Thanks Guys, The H3 type is the one thats toast. Is there a further identifying number that I need? My impression is that the H number specifies a physical size of the bulb. For example, the regular headlight is an H4 and its number is 9003LL. Just installed rechromed reflectors and am looking forward to adjusting the aim and see if any improvement in visibility.
Cheers! Willie(Poor Soul)

The H3 is the foglight bulb..............the H4 is the headlight bulb..............there is actually another bulb that will fit in the H4 slot....but you buy and H4 bulb.......and you buy an H3 bulb.........whoever makes it will have their own internal part number.

Euro headlight bulbs

Thanks BHD for clarifying the bulb issue. Perhaps this time I can go to the parts store without being embarrassed by my total lack of knowledge. Cheers, Willie(Poor Soul)

Found the Bosch number

on the original burned out bulb. It is Osram 64151. Got the replacement -- it is a Grote 90971-5. Hope this will help someone. Willie (Poor Soul)
