rattle in rear suspension

I have been living with a rattle comming from the back of the car for too long now. It does not seem to be the exhaust, and happens most frequently at slower speeds, on dirt roads (15-25 mph)

I have not been able to reproduce any noise while under the car pushing and stuff around. I have checked the upper bushngs of the rear shocks, and now the thought occurs to me that may be there is a bushing on the bottom of the shock as well? and that could be making noise?

what have you all found to be solutions to rattling in the back of your car, may be I am just looking in the wrong place.

Do a search on "sway bar links." Sounds the same as a problem I had. Easy and cheap to fix.

Top end of a rear shock coming loose is another possibility.

my first thought was to check the top of the shock, and it was still snug...

loose swaybar... I will pry around and hopefully fiind something that might rattle. thanks for the ideas

Dang, I read through your post so fast I didn't see that you had already checked the shocks. Sorry.

How about CV joints? Grab ahold of the axle shaft and yank it this-way-and-that. If it moves....
