Questions about Climate Control Vaccuum

Hi all,
On my 87 300D the center dash vents quit working. Before I tear out the dash to replace the pods, I'd like to do some testing. Work was done both under the hood and under the dash just before the center vents quit working. I searched for broken vaccuum lines but had a hard time locating the right ones. The manual is vague and the color abbreviations on the diagrams are unintelligible to me.
Can I remove the push button control assembly and test for vaccuum leaks at that point? Is the control assembly hard to remove? At least the manual shows numbers for the various ports at the control, so I can tell which line goes to where.
Thanks for any help............Brian

Oh one more question, Is the tan vacuum line thats spliced in to the brake booster line under the hood the main feed to the control?
Thanks

Is it only the center flap that dont work? If all the flaps arent working, then the main vacuum line(green w/ yell. stripes) might have been pulled out. Look under your dash. If its only the center flap, it could be a number of things - a shorted switchover valve, center pod leaking, bad control assy.
I think there was a recall for some 124 ACC conrol unit.

ok heres what i did. First i pulled out the glove box and checked each of the actuators separatley by removing each vacuum line one at a time and evacuating it with a mighty vac. well the ones that go to the recirculate actuators won't hold vacuum even for a second. The one for the center flap pumps up then slowly leaks down. The only one that really holds 100% is defrost. I even capped off the main supply at the pump under the hood and checked the supply at the valve, it too leaked down slowly. Now when I connect the center vent flap directly to the supply, bypassing the valve, it stays open. So I am thinking I probably have a number of leaks, enough to where there is not enough vacuum left to hold the center actuator open when the other actuators are hooked up.
Anyone know how much vacuum the supply at the valve should be? And how to convert mbar to inches?
I am also curious as to the routing of the supply to the valve. At the valve it is green with yellow stripes but I could not find it under the hood.
Thanks, Brian
