Question Washer Check Valve

My washer check valve ( the splitter in the washer lines) is leaking ! Any idea where I could buy one on the west side of Atlanta ( Cobb County) on a Sunday ?? I know I can order one but wanted to fix that tomorrow if possible.

I would be surprised if any of the chain stores had them. Why order it, it is probably a cheap part. I would just get it from a dealer.

Old thread, new cheap fix

I just got through doing the cheapest fix I've ever done to a Benz. My windshield washer line splitter was leaking on my w126. If yours is too, here's what to do.

Materials:
1 medium latex glove
Black electrical tape
scissors

Locate the valve where 1 hose goes to 2.

Remove the hose off the end that goes back to the reservoir.

Around the valve assy is a split plastic cover. open it, don't worry if the tabs break, it's 25 year old plastic. It probably will, that's why you have the black tape.

Once the cover is off, you will see a black rubber sleeve that fits closely around the middle of the valve. Clever stuff! It's the only moving part on this thing, it's very resistant to clogging and when it gets old and splits, that's where the leak comes from.

Snip off a finger, then a fingertip from the small finger on the latex glove (not your hand) to mimic the old rubber sleeve and slide it on the plastic housing. Cut another sleeve from a larger finger to slide over the first one, this will help seal the unit a little better.

Slide the plastic split cover over the assy, make sure that the glove material sticks out past the ends of the center of the valve.

Tape the cover shut with a few winds of electrical tape, reconnect the hose and you're done!

Yeah, I will get another one, but just for grins I'm going to see how long this one lasts.

cost: < 25 cents
grin factor: priceless!

Clever fix!

I like making things as factory as possible.

When mine broke I not only replaced the valve, I replaced all the line with as close to OE line as I could find.
