EGR Bypassed! E300D 1996

I'm pleased to report success on the bypass of my EGR today. I bought a new EGR tube from MB. I then cut off the lower 1.5 inches of it. I turned a stainless steel plug exactly the Internal diameter of the tube and pressed it in. I then made multiple little cuts in the tube's end and bent them over and sealed the exhaust side with High temp silicone sealant.
For the EGR valve side. I made a plug on the lathe and bored it 3/4 part way and 7/8" on the other side. It too was pressed into the tube and the little air filter was pushed into the stainless adapter.
I retained the old tube for inspection purposes.
It drives much better and NO CODES are generated!
I've attached photos of the plugged exhaust manifold, Filter and filter stainless adapter. All turned on my Monarch lathe!

Nice job.

Be even more helpful if you referenced the vehicle for other members to consider.

Any chance you will make it for other 606 people like myself? Also how much would you want for it if you did? I have a 99 E300 606 motor which is pretty similar to yours.

I could probably be convinced to make a few. The new tube from MB was nice to work with but I don't know if they are all the exact same ID. Mine was 24.47mm ID so that is the diameter of the plug and adapter to make it a press in fit. The monarch lathe will hold these tolerances.

I do not think it is possible on the turbo, i have tried and the MAF senses that air flow is not reduced when the EGR is supposed to open and then cuts turbo boost.
I would imagine the non turbo 606 does not have an MAF is this correct?

If someone finds a way to do away with the EGR on a 606 turbo i would be very interested.

I would think that they have an MAF otherwise what would indicate the amount of air going into the system?

Maybe speedtuning USA can figure a way to bypass it electronically.
