NON Mercedes but interesting old car...

this thing has got to be a piece of history...doubt many were made....would be sweet restored.

I can imagine the fun of finding parts for a full restoration

I'm not familiar with this car, but a quick Googling turned up a brief model description and a page with links to some nicer examples of this car (though some of the links are dead). I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of either of those sources.

Yes, they look like pretty nifty cars!

But look at one in running condition:

Babe magnet.

One good thing about those cars is that there'll probably be no rust. I'm sure mechanical parts would be relatively easy, for a Maserati that is, to locate.
The hood OTH may end up having to be fabricated,$$$
I'm sure its a rare car.

Dreaming, dreaming...

If the body is in good shape with no rust and not to many dents I bet you could make it like the one R Leo posted for $70k-$100k or so. :D Just a guess.

It would be a sweet car though.

stayalert 05-03-2005 03:40 PM

BHD you should buy it and put your Honda's guts into it.

:D

I don't have the discretionary income it would take to even consider that car.

As much as I would love it.............

Honda guts I have won't work in any way or form...........Honda only makes one engine that turn in the right direction for a RWD application....

THe F20 in the S2000 all the others rotate in the Counter Clockwise direction.

It would take a sweet amount of money to restore ($70-$100K or so). :D

Hey, here's an idea. Drop a OM617 in the car. Then we could talk about it regularly. :D

stayalert 05-03-2005 04:25 PM

I don't anything about those s2000's except that a guy drove away from the rink the other night after hockey.......Sounded engine sounded like a Japanese motorcycle and sounded like it was spinning about 6-7K rpms and just getting started.....

stayalert 05-03-2005 04:26 PM

And besides you could have the first (only?) FWD maseratti! :D

Yeah that would be a crime. I am sure that I6 sings a sweet note and pulls that car along quite nicely.

DieselBone 05-03-2005 11:39 PM

The output of that motor is almost amazing. Its almost a 3.5 liter. What did the 3 liter MB injected six put out? A little under 200hp?
