Oil Pressure (I Searched!!!)
So can anyone give me normal oil pressure readings in PSI for a non-turbo 300td (84')? Can't seem to find it anywhere and it seems lower at idle after my last oil change. I put the Chevron diesel oil (can't remember the name), 15w-40 in and it seems really thin...car runs fine am I just paranoid?

Your gauge reads BAR.
![]() Use one of the free on line conversion bar to psi tools. ![]() http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=free+online+conversion+bar+to+psi

willyons,
Does the oil pressure go to full scale when engine is running hot at 1500RPM and stay above 1 Bar at idle? If it does both of the above, oil pressure is OK. P E H |

Actually, my guage reades in PSI, and my temp reads in Fahrenheit. I'll do the conversion thing though...am I once again unique with the imperial units?

One BAR = 14psi.
![]() If you are 14psi or higher = good. ![]() |

Willyons,
Not Imperial units: Metric units. 1 BAR (Standard Barometric Pressure at Sea Level) = 14.7 PSI. Rounded off its 15 PSI. P E H |

Psi
My gauge set is in PSI for erl press, temp in F, clock on the right side of the speedo & same size. The car was supposedly originally sold in France & went thru some kind of Federalizing procedure when it got here ---- there is a plaque on the door jamb about it. The front end (with its Euro bumpers) is jacked up about 3", and the instrument panel is as mentioned -- I assumed MBZ provided the parts ..... car was admitted in 87, I think ...
