92 300D 2.5Turbo finished doing Vacuum pump

I had to remove the radiator, fan shroud, tensioner and tentioner spindle.

This is what my pump looked like. I was fortunate that everything stayed away from the timing chain.

Transmission kicks a little hard. Anyone know if this is normal when a new vacuum pump in installed?

Lucky!!!

You should mount it on a plaque and hang it on the wall with the caption "LUCKY". :D

If it was not for this site I would not be LUCKY

I did not know what was wrong. After reading this site for about 4 hours, I stopped driving the car. I would have kept on driving if it was not for reading about this problem.

Thank you to all who posted.

Yes, I do consider myself lucky.

Hard shifting generally means NO vacuum to the transmission. Look and see if ya knocked a line loose or if a hose or fitting cracked. Real easy to bump somthing and have it break on old brittle lines.

Nick, what did you notice as a symptom? And how many miles on your car?
