General questions about '96 E300D

Regular readers of the tech help section have probably seen my post about buying a W210, specifically a gas wagon. However, yesterday I came across a very nice '96 E300D about 2 miles from my house. It has 121K miles and everything works, the body/interior is super clean. The used car dealer has been straightforward in that he told me he got it at an auto auction, and showed me a carfax. Details:

1996-2006. Spent in Ohio. Makes me wonder about corrosion on the front spring perches. Otherwise, not a speck of rust anywhere to be found. It was serviced for 10 years and 92,000 miles by an MB dealer, even oil changes were done there, although the Carfax doesn't specify exactly what was done on the other visits. Still, that's not bad. In 2006 someone bought it in TX, and I have no history for the last 30,000 miles and 4 years. It appears to have been well kept though. Dealer said it would be OK to take the car to my (indy MB) mechanic for prepurchase inspection - will make a point of looking at those perches.

My question - I think it's safe to assume the service was kept up to date thru the first 10 years/90,000 miles or so. How do I find out what this would have included, and what other things am I looking at to keep it up to date at this point? Besides perches, anything in particular I should tell the mechanic to look at?

I'm torn between buying this car (would cost me $5k to move up after I sell my 300D), and keeping my W123 which is running well but aging. The dealer wants $8200 for this example, but it does seem pretty nice and it's good to know it was kept well for at least the first 10 years. It has low enough mileage that I would expect to get good service for quite a while. If I could get it for $7500, it would be hard to resist.

thanks, especially to all who responded to my other questions

Charlie
