lift pump gasket leak

I am getting a slight leak from the bottom of my lift pump. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the gasket. The reason I noticed it might be leaking was that the metal part of the oil cooler hoses are right underneath it and they had a shiny spot that was wet there and this was a couple days after really cleaning up the engine compartment.

So, is there anything I need to know about before tackling this job? I'll get the gasket at the dealer. Does the engine need to be at a certain point (in timing) for the pump to go back on?

Thanks
David

It can be any position....its spring loaded and has a roller on the end of the arm......the gasket is paper thin and has three 10mm nuts holding it on....its going to be tight to do it on the car but possible.

I'm speaking about my 300SDL. It looks like it will be very easy, only two 10mm nuts holding it on. I'll post a pic this afternoon so you can see at least one more thing that's easier on a 603 than a 61x.

Thanks
David
